Everyone is tired. After a long flight, nobody should be hunting for a ride or arguing about a fare. That's the moment people accept the first offer.

Someone is waiting. Parents, siblings, an uncle who left home at midnight. A delayed cab means a chain of phone calls across two time zones.

Ahmedabad Airport Basics: Two Terminals, One Mistake to Avoid

The airport sits in Hansol, about 9 km north of the city centre. It has two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights. Terminal 2 handles international ones.

Here's the mistake. Many NRI trips involve a connection. Fly into Mumbai or Delhi on an international leg, then take a domestic flight on to Ahmedabad, and you land at Terminal 1, not Terminal 2. A direct international flight lands at Terminal 2. Tell the driver which one, because the two buildings are not next door to each other.

Ahmedabad Airport to Anand, Vadodara and Surat: Distances and Starting Fares

One honest caveat. These figures start from Ahmedabad city. The airport is about 9 km north of the centre, so the exact distance and fare for an airport pickup can differ a little. Confirm the number when you book.

Also, some route pages mention slightly different figures in their FAQ text. Anand shows 65 km, Surat shows 265 km and a 4.5 to 5 hour drive. When you plan your day, use the longer drive time.

Direct answer: how long is the cab ride from Ahmedabad airport to Anand, Vadodara and Surat?

Plan about 1.5 hours to Anand, about 2 hours to Vadodara on the expressway, and 4.5 to 5 hours to Surat. Those are counted from Ahmedabad city. The airport is about 9 km north of the centre, so add a little to each.

Ahmedabad Airport to Anand Taxi: The Charotar Run

Anand is the shortest of the three and the most common. The Ahmedabad To Anand Taxi Service covers 72 km in about 1 hour 30 minutes on the booking page. The FAQ on the same page says about an hour via NH47. Either way, you're home before the tea goes cold.

Nadiad is on the way. Our Anand page says short stops there carry no extra charge. That matters more than it sounds. Plenty of families have a relative to drop or pick up halfway. Mention it when you book so the driver plans the stop.

Once you're home, you may want a car for the week. Gifts to deliver, relatives to visit, a temple trip. The Anand local cab service page shows the hourly packages, 8 hours with 80 km or 12 hours with 120 km, so you aren't arranging a fresh cab for every errand.

Ahmedabad Airport to Vadodara Taxi: Expressway or NH48

The Ahmedabad to Vadodara taxi is listed at 109 km and about 2 hours 2 minutes. There are two roads.

The NE-1 Expressway takes roughly 1.5 hours. NH48 via Nadiad and Anand takes 2 to 2.5 hours but gives you stops. The choice is simple. Landing at 2 AM with everyone half asleep? Expressway. Need to drop someone at Nadiad or Anand on the way? NH48.

The route page says the fare includes fuel, driver allowance and expressway tolls. It also says night travel between 11 PM and 6 AM may carry additional charges. Ask for that number before the flight, not at the kerb.

Ahmedabad Airport to Surat Taxi: The Long Drive After a Long Flight

Surat is a different kind of trip. The Ahmedabad to Surat taxi is 251 km, about 4 hours 22 minutes on the booking page, and 4.5 to 5 hours in the FAQ via NH48.

Landing at 3 AM and driving five hours straight is a lot. You have two honest options. Go straight and let everyone sleep in the car. Or rest in Ahmedabad and leave at 6 or 7 AM, which our Surat page recommends for avoiding city traffic. Late evening after 7 PM is also smooth, according to the same page.

My view? With small children or older parents, rest first. The drive isn't hard, but arriving at dawn in a worn-out state helps nobody. Vadodara sits roughly halfway, and Bharuch is another decent stop.

Count Your Bags Before You Pick the Car

This is the part people get wrong. They count seats. They should count bags.

Now do the sums. Two adults with two large suitcases each is four bags. Add two cabin bags and a gift box and you're at seven. A Dzire carries three. An Ertiga carries four or five. An Innova Crysta carries five.

Four adults with two big suitcases each? That's eight bags before cabin luggage. Only the Tempo Traveller lists 7 to 8, and it's built for a bigger group. For many families the right answer is two cars. That's normal. Don't force one car to do a job it can't do.

Our airport page suggests the Dzire for couples and individuals and the Ertiga for families with more luggage. The Innova Crysta cab in Ahmedabad page is worth a look if the family is large and the drive is long, since it gives you seven seats and the most luggage room of the standard cars.

Flight Tracking and the Meeting Point

Our airport pages say drivers monitor your flight in real time. If the flight is delayed, the pickup time adjusts. For that to work, we need the flight number when you book. Not the airline. The number.

After you land, the driver directs you to the pickup point. Clear immigration, collect your bags, switch your phone back on, then call or WhatsApp. Ask the driver to confirm the exact gate or bay before you walk out. Don't hunt for the car in the dark.

When to Book If You're Flying In for Diwali

Diwali is Sunday, 8 November 2026. If you're landing in the days before it, book the cab the day you buy the ticket. Don't leave it for the week of travel.

Our booking window opens up to 180 days ahead and closes 3 hours before pickup. A car is allotted at least 8 hours before a standard trip, or 2 hours before an outstation one way trip. That's the rule. The reality in festival week is that vehicle choice shrinks fast, and midnight pickups are subject to availability. Our airport page strongly recommends booking ahead.

Airlines also reschedule. Good news here: pickup date and time changes are free up to 24 hours before pickup, subject to availability. Book early, then adjust if the flight moves. The Return Trip: Getting Back to the Airport

The flight home is where timing bites. Work backwards, not forwards.

Take the flight time. Subtract the check-in window. Airlines usually ask for about three hours before an international departure, so check your own ticket. Subtract the drive. Then add the buffer. Our airport page suggests 30 to 45 minutes.

Booking Terms for an Airport Transfer

• Bookings open up to 180 days ahead and close 3 hours before pickup.
• A car is allotted at least 8 hours before a standard trip, or 2 hours before an outstation one way trip.
• Pickup date or time changes are free up to 24 hours before pickup, subject to availability.
• Cancelling more than 24 hours ahead gets a 75% refund. Between 24 and 12 hours there is a 40% penalty, between 12 and 6 hours it is 50%, and inside 6 hours the booking is forfeited.
