But the real reason to come here is Velavadar Blackbuck National Park, 65 km north of Bhavnagar. The grassland sanctuary is home to one of the densest populations of Indian blackbuck in the country. In winter, visiting wolf packs and harrier birds from Central Asia also make this one of the better wildlife watching sites in western India.
It is not Ranthambore. There are no tigers and no open jeep drama. What it offers is a quiet, uncrowded grassland experience that most Gujarat residents have no idea exists.
