Sacred Sites in Dwarka
Dwarkadhish Temple: Also called Jagat Mandir, this 2,500-year-old temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna was built with Chalukya style, with 72 pilasters. The five-story main shrine has an idol in black depicting Krishna. The temple's flag is changed 5 times a day. Darshan time: 6:30 AM 1PM - 1:30 PM, 5 PM to 9:30 PM.
Bet Dwarka: Accessible by boat from Okha Port (30 km from Dwarka) This island is thought to be the original place of residence. The temple of the past here is of an historical and mythological significance. Boats run 7 AM - 5 PM.
Nageshwar Jyotirlinga one of twelve Jyotirlingas that are located 17 kilometers away from Dwarka. It has a 25-meter high Shiva statue. The tranquil surroundings attracted worshippers seeking Lord Shiva's blessings.

About Dwarka - Krishna's Sacred City
Dwarka Dwarka, which is one among the seven cities of India's Sapta Puri (seven sacred cities) is considered to be the kingdom of Lord Krishna. Based on Hindu stories, Krishna established Dwarka after departing from Mathura. Dwarka is a an integral part of Char Dham Yatra, making Dwarka one of the top pilgrimage sites.
Archaeological excavations indicate Dwarka was a city that existed for 9,000 years as submerged structures have been discovered near the shore, indicating the city was a port from ancient times. It is a popular destination for hundreds of thousands of tourists each year and especially in Janmashtami which is a time of grand celebrations.
The best time to visit: October to March (15degC-30degC) is a pleasant time to visit. Stay clear of the summer months (April-June) when temperatures reach 40 degrees Celsius. Monsoons are characterized by moderate rainfall.
